About Us
Jackson and Hill Productions C.I.C is a production company based in the South of England, which aims to produce high quality film and theatre using members of the community, especially dealing with youth groups. We not only make films and theatre productions, but are also available for various workshops including acting, film and stage combat for schools and community groups alike within the Hampshire/Sussex area. We are an entirely non-profit organisation.
As a company, we want to be able to offer school and youth groups as well as other community groups, affordable drama-related workshops to help with communication skills and to build teamwork and trust. Another of our goals is to produce community-based projects so that local people can gain hands-on experience in the arts. These may be purely for entertainment purposes, or to raise awareness of certain important issues, both domestic and national. Our projects are produced with the help of the local community- any person who wishes to take part contacts us via phone, e-mail or through our website and we then organise auditions/interviews with them. We aim to give them the opportunity to work in an environment where they may not normally have access, and in this way we hope to integrate different social groups who would not otherwise have the chance to work with each other.
The company is headed and run by two Directors- Daniel Hill and Hugo Jackson. They conduct most administrative jobs relating to the company, and as such act as both a Committee and a governing body.
When community projects are organised, members of the community volunteer to take on certain administrative roles within the project itself (such as producer, general assistant) to aid with its running. Depending on the size of the project and the number of people involved (including performers), the company has a potential to hold around 100 participants.
Since we are a Community Interest Company, the revenue for these projects relies on donations in kind, fundraising activities and sponsorship to help secure the equipment and resources necessary to carry out the projects.
Since our founding in January 2006, we have enjoyed success with our feature-length romantic comedy movie called ‘It Always Comes As A Surprise’ (now available on DVD) and a forty minuet drama called ‘Our Time To Live' (also available on DVD). And two theatre productions: 'Two' by Jim Cartwright and Harold Pinter’s ‘The Caretaker’.
